I started making Jewelry about 3 years ago. Simple stringing of assorted beads I had bought on sale or clearance. Who knew how expensive this new hobby of mine was going to become. This set sold easily the first show I did.
I tried my hand at Illusion necklace using monofiliment line. I kept this one because I just did not think it was good enough to sell. I am not fond of using monofiliment and I dont use it now for my illusion necklaces. This was made with freshwater pearls and took me forever to make, measuring precisely so each one was perfectly measured.
Then I went on to looped bead making. The upper beads are ab czech beads, and lower ones are AB silver color beads, looped. This was a fast seller. Hmmm, I should make some more of these.
I advanced to looped and wrapped beads. This is one of my favorites. It sold the first time anyone saw it in person. This is made with Amazonite stones..
A timeless classic beauty, glass pearls with
crystal rondells. Again a very fast seller.
Now, I am into Metals. So far metals are my favorite. The other day I annealed my first piece of copper.. I was so excited, But what a pain in the backside to clean the firescale off. I have to look into "pickling" which takes the firescale off quickly. My plan is to buy more metal working tools by the springtime of 2012. I will be offering simple metal designs till I aquire more tools.
Who knew that a retired respiratory therapist would find so much joy in going from saving lives to saving beads,????
